Kirjeldus

The RVP-4 performs online, cyclical automated measurement of vapor pressure in a pre-calibrated measuring range for fuels, crude oil, liquefied gases or similar products. Two sample streams and one calibration stream can be connected to the unit. It is used to monitor the production quality of the process and the compliance with defined specifications for petrochemical products.

Definition of the vapor pressure
The vapor pressure is the partial pressure of the saturated vapor which is in thermodynamic equilibrium with the liquid phase of the product. The vapor pressure depends on the composition of the product and on the temperature.

General significance
The vapor pressure of a products is an important criterion during transport and storage:
  • Pressure load on pipes and tanks
  • Pumps cavitation
  • Emission due to vaporization (environmental protection)

Significance for fuels
Fuel factors influenced by the vapor pressure include:
  • Behavior in the fuel line and/or fuel pump (vapor bubble formation)
  • Cold start behavior
  • Warm-up behavior
  • Icing of carburettors
