Description

The CLASS CLD is designed to operate with a BARTEC Vodec CLASS addressable loudspeaker system and facilitates data communication for monitoring and configuration between CLASS central control unit (CCU) and individual loudspeakers. A CLD is located within the vicinity of a PAGA loudspeaker (Public Address & General Alarm) and provides:

• Supervision
• Power tap setting of the target loudspeaker (Maximum 0f 4 tap settings)

The CLD is designed in two variations:

• The CLD EEx version is designed to site in a Zone 1 IIC T6 hazardous area and is ATEX certified accordingly
• The CLD safe area is designed for use in non hazardous areas only

The CCU communicates to the CLD by superimposing data on the established loudspeaker line pair, no additional conductors are required to implement CLASS. Power supply is derived by the same route obviating requirement for additional field cable/local mains supplies. The unit houses a single circuit board which carries the addressing hardware, loudspeaker voice coil supervisory circuitry and the remote tap change/power setting switches.

The CLD is assigned a unique two digit address (01-50) enabling up to fifty CLD units to be attached to a single loudspeaker distribution network. The CLD address is set manually by the installation technician after cable termination of the device. At preset intervals the CCU initiates a CLASS cycle which interrogates each CLD connected to the system. The unique address of each CLD on a line is sequentially transmitted by the CCU and the respective CLD responds by delivering a status report from which the CCU displays loudspeaker healthy or failure.
