Description

The CLASS CCU is the core control HMI (Human Machine Interface) which enables the host system to automatically supervise the integrity of loudspeakers used in a PAGA life safety critical broadcast package. The CLASS CCU comprises of a 4U 19-inch rack mount enclosure which carries the following major parts:
  • CLASS CCU Intelligent touch screen display and micro control processor
  • Loudspeaker Line interface

Each loudspeaker is assigned a CLASS CLD outstation which checks the associated loudspeaker under control of the CCU. Data transfer between CCU and CLD outstation is established over the loudspeaker interconnecting cable pair, no additional cable pairs are required. The CLD power supply and data communications are superimposed on the respective loudspeaker line under the control of the CCU which delivers ?in-band? signalling tones during the CLASS loudspeaker system test/verify cycle.

The CLASS supervisory check is approximately 10 seconds long and during this period each loudspeaker CLD is sequentially addressed by the CCU and corresponding data handshaking confirms the security of the critical path in each instance. The CCU can be set to monitor up to 50 x CLD devices per amplifier line, with the base CCU execution capable of supervising up to eight amplifier/line networks. The CCU can be switched into ?power set? mode and in this situation the engineer can prescribe loudspeaker settings for each loudspeaker device on the system from the CCU touch screen GUI.
